(Please See the How to Help Page for More Info) 1. Prayer - Billy and his whole family are believers in Christ and he is confident of his relationship with God through Christ. We are also aware that God hears the prayers of His people and He is in the "Healing" business. Please Pray for God's hand to be on Billy, his family and the Doctor's and Staff at UAB. 2. Financial Needs - There will be a lot of "out of pocket" expenses as this process takes place. In fact there have already been a number of cost involving co-pays on preliminary test, etc. Billy and Joanne will have to relocate to Birmingham for 8 to 12 weeks and rent an apartment during this time. These cost combined with co-pays on numerous drugs, follow up test and procedures and general expenses incurred anytime you are away from home will be significant. They have signed on with The National Transplant Assistance Fund. This organization (NTAF) is a not-for-profit resource whose mission is to help raise funds for transplant and catastrophic injury patients by providing families and communities with many resources and by receiving and dispersing funds that are donated on their behalf. If you would like to learn more about NTAF or would like to consider helping in this area please see our Donation page. 3. Alabama State Employees Sick Leave donation. Billy's wife Joanne will need donated leave in order to stay on the payroll during this time. She has already used up countless hours over the last year or more as Billy has gone through the diagnosis process. She will obviously need to be with him the majority of the time he spends in Birmingham during his hospitalization and the 8 to 10 weeks of recovery that will require him to stay within 20 minutes of the hospital. She will be out of leave early on in this process. If she goes off payroll, then they will be forced to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket in order to keep their Health Insurance. If you are a State of Alabama Employee and would consider donating leave to her, please email us and let us know how to contact you. 4. Other Needs will come up we are sure. Obviously we have never been through this process before and we will certainly have many surprises. We will keep you posted of those here on this page, so please check back.
